  • Hawaii tomorrow

I'm going to Hawaii tomorrow! I'm mostly packed and excited to go. Shopping for new clothes was not that fun but I'm just going to enjoy my time there and relax. I have a few new sundresses and my hubby's board shorts. I'm hoping nobody will notice anything.

Had another doctor's appointment this past Monday. Didn't have any blood work done which was weird. I guess that's a good sign but it would have been more reassuring if the numbers went up. Things seem to be progressing, although slowly. Still too early.

I'm transferring to another hospital when I get back. My next appointment is on the 21 so hopefully we'll have a better idea of how things are. Meanwhile, I'll try not to worry and enjoy the rest of my summer vacation. I go back to work in three weeks. Ugh.

  • Almost a year...

Wow, how the times just fly. Can you believe it's almost been a year since the wedding? We are going to Hawaii for our anniversary. Turtle bay! It's not really a full honeymoon but that's ok. It'll be our last getaway for a while though. At least for the next few years.

Work: Things are going well. They are currently remodeling my science lab so I'm really looking forward to having a nifty high tech lab with proper lab stations, probe ware, computers, and a newer SmartBoard. However, completely cleaning out my room was not that fun.

Life: A lot has been going on the last few weeks. I'm constantly worried and playing the waiting game and with no work during the summer, it's driving me crazy. I am NOT a very patient person. Went to the doctor on Monday and it completely freaked me out!

I just wish he was a little more informative and reassuring. I had to find peace of mind from information gathered on the internet and from other people's personal experiences. I'm just trying to make it through the next few weeks without losing my mind.

Since my insurance will transfer groups on Aug. 1, I'm hoping to be able to find another doctor for all my subsequent follow ups. I'm trying to stay positive and not worry but I guess it comes with the territory. Meanwhile, things are still going smoothly.

All I can do in the mean time is take care of myself, eat well, exercise, stay positive, and be patient. Just once I would like to be able to enjoy my summer and just relax. I guess this will be the closest I'm ever going to get. Ohmmm. *trying to relax*

  • Family Ties

OK, so I'm walking around downtown on my way back from getting some McDonalds. All of a sudden, I hear someone honking their horn and as I turn to look, I hear my name being screamed from the blue compact car. As the face registers, I am frozen with shock. It is my aunt and my cousin... from my dad's side of the family!

Let's just recap here a bit. First of all, they all still think I live in SD. Yah, I know... keep up with the times right? Secondly, I don't think they all realize I'm married, or at least recently married. There have been rumors that I was married a long time ago and that I was with child. Hah. Anyways, they're a little in the dark about my life.

So my aunt and cousin waves as she screams, "What are you doing?!" I clumsily hold up my McD's bag and soda, smirk... and TURN AND WALK AWAY!! I know it is a little chicken sh*t of me but what else was I supposed to do?! I couldn't very well stop and have a little chit chat with them to catch up!! Right?! Right?!

I admit, I panicked a little. I tried to call my mom so that we can get our stories straight. Gay, I know. But hey, tis the life of dealing with my dad's side of the family. I had to check to make sure what they know and what they don't know. However, after 7 missed calls, I don't think my mom recognizes the urgency of the situation.

Luckily, my cousin and my aunt have not called me to see what I was up to. I think they might be a little miffed by my snuff. Oh wells, I'm sure it'll come up again during our banquet thing this weekend. It'll at least buy me some time so that I can come up with a good excuse for being in downtown. Maybe I'll even tell them the truth!

  • Wicked & Linkin Park

Married life so far has been pretty good. I don't feel a significant difference. In fact, I don't feel any difference. The only thing that is a little weird is being called Mrs. That takes a little while to set in. I just have to wait for the marriage license so I can legally change my name.

I went and saw Wicked on Thursday with my new husband and his uncle. I was sick and taking a lot of DayQuil so things are slightly fuzzy, but I thought it was pretty cool. We had pretty good seats so it was enough to keep me awake. I passed out as soon as we got home though.

One of my students got me tickets to Projekt Revolution so we went on Sunday. It started at 2pm but we got there a little after 6pm. It was freakin hot but cooled down by the time Linkin Park went on. I had a blast!! I screamed my head off!! It was an awesome concert.  =)

So now it's time to write our Thank You notes and all that post wedding stuff. We're waiting for our wedding pictures and then pay off the remaining balance after we approve the proofs. Then we have the asian banquet this coming Saturday. I hope that goes well, aka. drama free.
